We’re going to try and paint this weekend, but I still haven’t picked a color for the great room. I’m looking for a color that is yellow but not YELLOW, which is apparently difficult to find.

Good luck! Color is a nemesis for me. My vote is for the three surrounding the upper doorway on the left. But, I’m not seeing it for real and can’t see the effect on the other side of the room. What if you paint the ceiling white and then you only have to worry about repainting the walls if you end up not liking the color?

      Those are my favorites!
I think we’ll paint the entire room the same color for two reasons:
      1) The line between the drywall and the plaster is especially not straight in this room, so this will save us time and help disguise that fact.
      2) The ceiling looks really high. I know that is the point of a vaulted ceiling, but I think the room will feel cozier if the ceiling feels lower, and painting the ceiling the same color will help achieve that.

oh i know what you mean about yellow. i had the back entrance to my house painted years ago, and the two ladies who painted it suggested “a yellow.” i was very reluctant but it looks amazing. sorry i don’t remember the name or brand though. yellows are good.

when we moved into our house everything was painted the same color, everything.
it hide the fact the house is sliding off the edge and no lines are stright. good idea.

Alexis, I have never tired of the yellow we painted our living room years ago….Firefly is the color by Miller. I think it is really a warm neutral color and you can change your great room accessories- greens, browns, reds and oranges all go with it. Your home will be amazing, you are doing a really great job! And that weather-vane….I think your day was trying to draw attention from Mars:)
