On a Roll

August 21, 2012

Guess what I saw when I got home yesterday?

Not only was the house stocked, but they had also hung the drywall in the master bedroom and bathroom, as well as the guest room.

I know these pictures of white plaster and white walls are riveting, but let me say that there was some squealing and air punching on my part when I saw it. Luckily for us, my dad is visiting this week and has been there to move appliances and tools out of the way for the crew, and answer questions about whether that hole in the ceiling is supposed to be there. As of yesterday, the crew is supposed to be done hanging the drywall on Wednesday, and the texture/finish work will start on Thursday. Woah.

Over the weekend, we also started plastering the exterior of the house. Even in the 90 degree heat and our inability to spray the plaster, it went really well and we finished most of the north side of the house in 9 hours.

Oh my gosh! You have a STRAW BALE HOUSE?! I am so envious! Do you have a Truth Window on the inside? Well I know you will enjoy this winter immensely! Keep on knitting!

Thanks for coming all the way from Ravelry. We decided not to do a truth window in the house – with so much effort going into sealing the bales and keeping moisture out, it was hard to imagine leaving a hole of exposed straw.
